Review: A Bar Tender Tale

A Bar Tender Tale
A Bar Tender Tale by Melanie Tushmore

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nathan is twenty two works two jobs, has tattoos, reads comics, loves zombie movies and punk rock. He has the worst luck with men. His supposed boyfriend is never around.

Auryn is thirty one, a solicitor, reads comics, plays video games and loves zombie movies. He recently moved to town. He just got through a bad breakup with his now ex-boyfriend.

Auryn is a friend of Gary and Gary is a friend of Nathan. When Nathan met Auryn at the bar where Gary works it was a perfect match.

I would of liked to had more background on both of them. A few times something was said and it made me wonder what the story was behind it. But overall it is a great book.

Pisces: From Behind That Locked Door by Pepper Espinoza

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's nice to read a story that isn't about two perfectly chiseled men. I could really understand where Jay was coming from. It was nice that Stephen saw more then just the outside.
People get bullied everyday for being different. Gay, Lesbian, Overweight, Special Needs. No one deserves to be bullied.

Review: A Lesson Learned

A Lesson Learned
A Lesson Learned by Carol Lynne

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Dane is a grad student and teaching assistant for professor Magnus Sofokleous. He's also in love with Magnus.
Magnus had a bad childhood. He doesn't trust emotions. Instead he hides behind D/s relationships. He never lets anyone get close to him. He is attracted to Dane. But he doesn't have sex with his students.

Three weeks together doing research at Barrett House, a small plantation in Louisiana. Which is also owned by Dane's family. Dane and Magnus agree to whatever sexually happens will end when the break is over.

I didn't feel that this book was as good as the rest of the Campus Cravings books. The sex was hot and I liked the mystery of the family but it was missing something. There wasn't much back story for either man.

Review: Make a Right

Make a Right
Make a Right by Willa Okati

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tuck and Cade were both kids from the street. The ended up at the same reform school, Tuck first then Cade later on. The first day Cade was there Tuck explained that it wasn't that bad there.

Tuck fell in love with Cade and told him it was for life. They spent 10 years together. Tuck took a job driving escorts, to buy a house for Cade.
Cade got mad and left when he found out. Said it was over for good.

Six months later Tuck gets an invitation to Hannah and Megan's wedding. They were like sisters to them. Tuck tracked Cade down and gave him the invitation.

The story is about secrets and how it can affect a relationship. Cade has a secret that he's ashamed of. He is sure that if he tells Tuck that he will hate him. Tuck loves him and tells him repeatedly that it wouldn't matter. The story is a tearjerker. I enjoyed it though.

Xavier's Way by Diana DeRicci

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Xavier owns his own business. He worked hard for it. He met Lindsay. Soon she was working for him and sleeping with him. She hated his two gay friends. Even accused him of sleeping with them. She said he had sex like a gay man. Xavier threw her out. Problems with his venders and customers were killing his business. He hired an accounting firm to audit his book. He had a string feeling Lindsay embezzled from him.

Jordan is an accountant. He gets assigned to audit Xavier's book. Jordan thinks he's hot , but its too bad he's straight. Jordan puts in long hours working over the books. He's afraid he will do something that will make Xavier uncomfortable. One time Jordan runs to the bathroom to jerk off while Xavier is ordering food.

Xavier struggles with discovering and being gay. Jordan is willing to take it real slow. The story is good and I liked Xavier and Jordan. The book could of been longer.

Review: Fire Balls

Fire Balls
Fire Balls by Tara Lain

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Rodney is a flamboyantly gay artist that paints nude men. He's 5'6" and has a black belt in karate. He has a crush on a firefighter named Hunter.

Hunter is a gay firefighter who is out at work. Most of the guys have no problem with him being gay. Mick is the homophob that is always making snide comments. Mick never makes them where the Fire Chief can hear them. Hunter's dad wanted him to be a firefighter.

I enjoyed the story. I liked Rodney but felt Hunter was too uptight. I couldn't see why Hunter wanted to date Jerry. The book could of been longer.

My life sucks

My brother is a total prick and I can't stand him. When we were growing up I always looked out for him. We were close. After he graduated, got married and went in the Army he became a total prick.

After my great grandma , grandma and mom died I inherited my great grandma's china and china hutch. My dad put it in storage while I was in Canada. My brother called and asked me if he could use it. I said sure.

Now he is divorcing his latest wife and moved into an apartment. He came over today to get dad to help him move the truck load of stuff he had. So I asked where my china hutch was. He said what hutch. I said my china hutch. He said what's it matter.

This upset me I went to my bedroom and cried. I wish I was an only child. It reminded me that I have nothing. It doesn't help my depression. The thoughts of having nothing lead to whats the point in trying to why go on living.

Review: Keeping You a Secret

Keeping You a Secret
Keeping You a Secret by Julie Anne Peters

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an amazing book. Holland and Cece make a cute couple. It would be nice to say that the problems they encountered in school are a thing of the past. It is truly heartbreaking to see the problems that young people deal with because they are gay. I bawled when Holland's mother acted the way she did. I can't understand how any parent can act that way.

This was my first YA f/f book and I would recommend this book to everyone.

The Decisions We Make by RJ Scott

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Daniel became an orphan after his father died and his mother committed suicide. He went in to the system and became a foster child. He thought something was wrong with him to drive his family away.

Jamie is the middle child with an older brother and a younger sister. His parents wanted to foster a child.

The story deals with them growing up together and the things they have to deal with. Daniel is more of a geek/nerd. Jamie is a jock. I love this book.

This is the eighth book in the series.

Harry grew up in Riverside. When his girlfriend ended up pregnant he married her and moved to Oregon. She turned out to be an alcoholic in and out of rehab several times. She told Harry she got pregnant on purpose to force him to marry her. He divorced her and was awarded sole custody of their two children.

Not a bad story. The ex wife is a nut job. The story should of been longer since it seemed rushed.

Review: Once a Marine

Once a Marine
Once a Marine by Cat Grant

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Marc works at the diner during the day and is a romance writer at night. He loves strong men and dates Marines. He hasn't had much luck with them though. In the end they always leave him.

Cole was a Marine till he was outed. Thanks to Don't Ask Don't Tell he got the boot. Now he's studying law at Berkley and having a rough time. His father said he was a disgrace, and won't talk to him. Cole did five tours in Iraq. He has nightmares and flashbacks. He doesn't want to seek treatment for his PTSD.

I loved the story. There were times I felt both MC's were acting like children. I enjoyed the way Cole romanced Marc. Cole's dad was a jerk. I would like to see more from these two.

Review: Hunger

Hunger
Hunger by Amanda Young

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Declan is 18 and homeless. His alcoholic father kicked him out when he found Declan's porn stash. Tired, hungry and broke left Declan with no choices. He tried finding a job but they wanted address and phone. He was walking down the street one night when he saw a hustler working a corner. Declan asked him how hard it was to sell himself. The hustler explained but told Declan to try the Chicken Ranch. It's a all male brothel on the edge of town. It served both male and female clients. Declan walked out there and got a job.

Killian is an accountant. He stutters when he's nervous. His friend tells him about the Chicken Ranch and invites him to go with him. Killian turns him down but then talks himself into going alone. He gets to the ranch and picks Declan from the line up. They go up to the room and go thru the menu. Killian ends up taking Declan's virginity.

Several months down the road they run into each other in the grocery store. They agree to a date.

The book was ok. It seemed rushed in places. There wasn't much to the MC's. It was kind of a cute story.

His second day at the new school he met Chanelle. She was trans* also.

I loved this book. J's story was insightful and heart breaking at the same time. The way people saw him, including his parents. The way they treated him. I'm glad I read this book. Everyone should read it.

This the fourth book in the series. We pick up where the third one left off. Sam and Jory are just getting back together. Sam comes home to inform Jory about the four murders they believe are tied to him. When Jory was kidnapped before they had brought the FBI in to help investigate. Now the FBI has found a pattern between the four murders. They don't believe it has anything to do with the original murder Jory witnessed.
Dane and his new wife Aja come back from their honeymoon early. Her father had a heart attack. After Jory and Sam pick them up from the airport Sam and Dane start yelling at each other. Jory and Aja leave to get some food. A white van pulls up and tries to kidnap them. Jory manages to save Aja before they grab him.
Jory woke up and found that Caleb was there with him. Knocked out again he woke up this time in the truck of a car. When it stopped he was told not to make a sound. Next thing you know the radio is blaring and the car is moving. When the trunk opens he sees two guys. They freak out and run. Jory drives himself to the police station. Turns out his kidnapper was car jacked.
After Jory got out of the hospital. Sam was leaving for work and his SUV exploded when he hit the key fob. Jory ran to him laying in the street.
The story is full of twists and turns that holds you till the end. Sam is still an asshole most of the time but Jory seems to love that.

He plans to take Jory to the man's father. Then tell him that Jory killed his son. He figures that will Jory gone everything will just blow over.

The police rescue Jory from the building he was in. Jory spent eight days in the hospital unconscious. Sam never left his side. Jory was in and out when he heard Sam talking with his mother. Sam was telling her he had to leave and go undercover for a few months. His mother was upset. Jory felt his heart break.

Jory is 22, gay and having fun cruising bars. He's the screw and go type. He gets a phone call while he's out from his friend Anna. She finally decided to leave her abusive husband and she needed Jory's help. See she couldn't take her dog George with her cause that would of tipped the husband off. She asked Jory to go pick up the dog. Jory being the good friend he is went. It didn't go as planned.

Turns out that the abusive husband was also a drug dealer. The police had been watching him and had an undercover operation going on. In the process of Jory getting the dog, the husband pulled a gun and tried to kill him. The police had to rush in and save him.

Detective Sam Kage wants Jory to go into witness protection. Jory refuses and leaves. Sam starts stalking him. He gets mad when Jory is out at a club or bar. After a while they end up in bed together. Sam denies being gay.

I liked the story. Sam comes across as an asshole at times. He doesn't want Jory to see anyone else while hes staying with him. But he's not in it for the long run either. Jory wants the forever with him. When I got to the end of the book I wanted to scream NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Review: An Unsettled Range

An Unsettled Range
An Unsettled Range by Andrew Grey

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Liam left home to get away from an abusive father. He got a job at a ranch but they fired him after just one day. They didn't want "his kind" around there. Liam kept walking and walking trying to find work. He woke up in a ditch with two men checking to see if he was alive. That's how he ended up at Wally and Dakota's ranch.

Troy lived in the closet most of his life. His brother was gay and had come out already. Troy did his best to ignore his feelings and be normal. He divorced his first wife and then married his second wife. They had a child together. Six years later Troy is sneaking around with a man who used to work in his office. Kevin, Troy's brother confronts him about it.

Troy told his wife she cried and cried. They divorced and he moved into his uncle's old hunting cabin. He met Liam there. He had come up to investigate the smoke he had seen from the ranch. Troy freaked, pulled the gun and told him to leave. He confessed later that it wasn't loaded.

I love the entire Range series. The characters are great and seem so genuine in their feelings toward each other. I love the big cats too. Troy did come across as an asshole in the beginning. I so wanted to smack him. Liam is friendly and warm to everyone. Wally is over protective.

Andrew Grey is an amazing writer. I've enjoyed a lot of his book. It's almost automatic for me to add his books to my TBR pile when I see a new one.

Money making stuff

So yesterday I was lurking around my local Craigslist. I check out the personals, pets, freebies, cell phones, etc.
Its fun to see some of the posts on there. Well i run across one about making money from home. Yes I know most are scams. I found one called ChaCha. It allows people to text or call in questions for answers. ChaCha provides the answers. Well I'm now a guide for them answering questions.

Perfect "job" for me. Since I sit on my ass all day in front of my pc reading on my e-reader.

Become a ChaCha guide  if anyone signs up just put my email cbuffalo@gmail.com as the person who referred you.
